Women have numerous gifts to give to the world today — and those
gifts are so needed in times like these. Yet, if we are not nurtured
ourselves, everything becomes more challenging, difficult and
uncentering. In order to enlighten, empower, nourish and heal others —
we must first do these things for ourselves. Here are a few self-loving
tips to help keep balance in our daily lives, so we are able to be there
for others.
Four Unconditional Support Systems
According to health and stress management expert Roger Mellott, we
have four support systems available that offer us unconditional love. I
have tested and proven these in my own life to be both effective and
nurturing and share them with you!
1) Pets
Your dog greets you at the door, wagging his tail with exuberance,
thrilled to see you, not inquiring why you are 20 minutes late. Unlike
some people in our lives, pets don’t judge, reprimand or make
insensitive mean comments Whenever I step out of the shower, I’m
thankful my orange tabby, Tigger, doesn’t shout, "Puttin’ on a
li’l weight there aren’t cha?!" Pets love us. So forgiving,
sensitive and supportive. They instinctively KNOW when we need a hug or
are feeling emotional, depressed and upset, and don’t run at the first
sign of tears! Unlike most people in our lives, pets run to our side,
listen to our woes, and work their magic in moments.
2) Faith
Faith may be referred to as a personal belief system, religion,
spirituality, God, Universe. Whether you attend church, synagogue or
meditation, or practice on your own, this inner compass enables us to
both become enlightened and bring forth that wisdom, authenticity and
insight into all we do — and on a daily basis. These beliefs ground
and center our moral foundation, offering direction, and trust to walk
to our path in this world. For me, I start the day with affirmations, or
gratitude statements including "Thank you for every way in which I
experience Your love." I then continue with additional positive
statements and affirmations. Being an expert on Attitude, I have found
that these practices create even more special moments, prosperity,
attraction, and balance in my daily life.
3) Passion Hobbies
Passion Hobbies are pastimes that have significant value, something
that we do to nurture our spirit and balance our balance. These are
activities that brings us joy, enlighten and center, enrich and empower
us. For most of us — it’s what we do AFTER work that helps us keep
our sanity AT work.
All the years growing up, I remember my father would rush home from
work and head out to the back yard where he would enjoy his passion
hobby — organic gardening. He would take out any of his frustrations,
find his inner peace, and then come into the house. What passion hobbies
do you currently have in your life — or could to incorporate into your
life on a regular basis that will bring you pleasure, healing and
balance?
4) Special People
These may be relatives, or significant others. They might not be
relatives at all but people we choose to be our "family." And
they may still be living, or have already made their transition. There’s
such a special connection, or unspoken understanding, between and
grandparent and grandchildren. My grandmother Nellie, my mother’s
mother, is one of my special people. She was always supportive and
loving, encouraging me along the way.
Think of your own special people. These are nonjudgmental, highly
supportive kindred spirits. We can pick up conversations with them,
right where we left off, without missing a beat, even if it’s been
years since seeing them last. Joe and Terry are this to me, two of my
closest spiritual friends. Great couple. Between our travel schedules we
may go for months, or years, between seeing each other — yet can pick
up right where we left off!
Who are YOUR special people in your life? And do they KNOW that they
are?
You have numerous gifts to give to the world today — and those
gifts are needed in times like these. Nurture yourself first, and those
challenges become easier to handle, with less stress and more love.
Utilize these simple unconditional support systems to bring you more
balance and joy in your daily life.
