The Federal Bureau of Investigation has added fugitive gangster Satinderjeet Singh, better known as Goldy Brar, to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list and offered a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to his arrest.

Brar became the 543rd person placed on the list since it was created in 1950. The FBI has described him as extremely violent, armed and dangerous, and warned members of the public not to approach him.

The new reward represents a substantial increase from the $50,000 previously offered after a federal arrest warrant was issued against him in July. Authorities believe he has lived in California and different parts of Canada, although his present location remains unknown.

US prosecutors accuse Brar of serving as the North American leader of the Lawrence Bishnoi organised crime group. He has been charged in a federal court in Los Angeles with racketeering conspiracy, conspiracy to interfere with commerce through extortion and conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.

The charges form part of Operation Hardball, a multi-agency investigation into three India-based criminal groups operating across the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. Three indictments unsealed in July named 37 defendants accused of racketeering, targeted killings, drug trafficking and extortion.

Twenty-four defendants had either been arrested or were already in custody when the indictments were announced. Authorities subsequently captured four more fugitives and determined that another had died. Brar remains among five defendants still being sought.

The most serious allegation against Brar concerns the June 2023 assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, British Columbia. Nijjar was a Canadian citizen who supported the creation of Khalistan and had been designated a terrorist by India.

The US indictment alleges that Bishnoi directed the operation from prison in India using smuggled mobile phones, while Brar helped manage the criminal group’s international activities. Both men are accused of ordering Nijjar’s killing by two gunmen.

American authorities also accuse the Bishnoi network of shootings, kidnappings, assaults and trafficking weapons and narcotics. Between March 2024 and July 2025, the organisation allegedly stole approximately 520 kilograms of cocaine from rival trafficking groups in the Los Angeles area.

Brar is already wanted in India. The Union government designated him an individual terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in January 2024, accusing him of involvement in terrorism, targeted killings and cross-border criminal activity. The National Investigation Agency has offered a separate reward of ₹10 lakh for information leading to his arrest.

Punjab Police have also named Brar as a principal conspirator in the May 2022 murder of Punjabi singer and politician Sidhu Moose Wala. According to the police chargesheet, Brar coordinated with Lawrence Bishnoi and other gang members to organise the attack after Moose Wala’s security cover was reduced. The singer was shot dead near Jawaharke village in Punjab’s Mansa district.

Brar has not been convicted of the allegations contained in the American or Indian cases. His addition to the Ten Most Wanted list does not change the charges against him, but it considerably expands the publicity, resources and international attention devoted to locating him.

The FBI said information may be submitted anonymously through its tip line, local offices or American embassies and consulates. Investigators in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia are now coordinating the search.
